WWTA S’more Fun Winter Doubles

S’More Fun Winter Doubles:  This new weekend league is being offered for Winter 2020/21 in lieu of World Team Tennis.  We continue to search for ways to keep players active in the sport we love, while maintaining social distance to better protect players and the community. We hope this league will provide players with the fun aspects of World Team while providing a safer playing experience.  The format will be 3 courts of doubles – 1 men’s, 1 women’s, and 1 mixed.  The levels will be 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 and there will be minimum of 7 matches.  This format alleviates players congregating while waiting to play with 12 players spread across 3 courts, playing simultaneously. The season will run Nov. 2nd through Feb. 12th.

Note:  We know World Team Tennis is wildly popular and we are working on a plan to provide that opportunity for Spring 2021 on weeknights.

Playdays:  Matches will be on Saturday and Sunday afternoons as follows:

3.5 & 4.5 teams will play on Saturdays at either 1:00 pm or 4:00 pm

3.0 & 4.0 teams will play on Sundays at either 1:00 pm or 4:00 pm

This is a non-USTA league so a USTA membership is not required. However,  USTA rules, regulations and ratings apply.

How to register a team for Winter Doubles:  Starting 10/5, Captains will register their team using a WWTA form (team name and home court location required to register).  Click here for the link for captains to register.  After the team is set up on Tennisscores, captains will be notified of how their players will register. Minimum number of players required by October 15th.  For town of Cary, depending on level of interest, we may have to limit teams and go to a lottery system. Once your team is approved, you will be given registration and court fee payment instructions.  For other towns, captains will register and first come first served on availability.  Teams playing out of private facilities must get approval from their facility.

Registration fee will be $13 per player and public court fees apply. There will be no refunds for any reason for this league.  Players should evaluate the current health crisis situation prior to registering.  We will continue the league as long as we are in at least Phase 2 of North Carolina’s Stay Safe plan.  We also expect that players will follow our safe play guidelines found on our Return to Play page.

Registration for players will begin on 10/5/2020 and the last day to register is  is 10/15/20.   Teams must have a minimum of 4 men/4 women by 10/15.  Public facility options are Morrisville Church Street Park, Holly Springs Ting Park, and Town of Cary.  Captains must get approval from any private home courts prior to registering.
