Ongoing

Volunteers are always needed to run tennis in the WWTA area – anything from helping out at tournaments, youth programs, board members, grant writers and more.  Executive Board positions run in two year terms from January 1 to December 31.  Please consider giving some of your time to help make tennis great for our community.

  • Beginner Programs – Many volunteers are needed to promote tennis to new players in our areas.  Days/times vary.  Different levels of players for different events, but all must be passionate about sharing their tennis passion to new players.  Contact Laura for more info.
  • Wheelchair Tennis Clinics – Weekly clinics at Cary Tennis Park.  Volunteers do a variety of tasks to support this program – assistance to and from parking lot, help in getting athletes situated in chairs, playing tennis in all play activities, doing drills and hitting with attending family members, picking up balls, and anything else needed to make this a positive experience for the athletes and their families.  Click here for more information.

Upcoming

  • Abilities Tennis Clinics – Tennis for the intellectually disabled – clinics spring and fall.  Training is required.  See our Abilities Tennis webpage for information on this program and training dates.  This is a great way for teens, adults and families to volunteer in tennis!
  • Youth Tennis Events – Perfect opportunity for young tennis players to introduce other kids to tennis.  Some of our events are at the YMCA, local parks, schools and churches.

Employment Opportunities

After 8 years of service to our tennis community, Maria Reier is “retiring” from WWTA.  Maria has been a big part in a variety of areas for WWTA – she ran the Find a Team program, supported new player programs, website management, whatever we needed (really), and most recently as WWTA Local League Coordinator.  Maria also played a huge part on the Charity Classic team for many years.  We will miss Maria and thank her for her service to our community.

With that, Western Wake Tennis Association is hiring!  WWTA Local League Coordinator is a part-time, hourly position that includes non-USTA league management, website management, attending WWTA events, and supporting beginner programming.  Candidates should have knowledge of WWTA leagues (captaining a plus), computer/technical savvy, passion for tennis and getting people involved in our sport, and excellent customer service skills.  Interested candidates should send resume and cover letter to laura@westernwaketennis.com by June 10th.
