Community Spotlight on Coaches!

As we celebrate May as National Tennis Month, we not only celebrate the sport but it is a good time to celebrate the people who deliver tennis. Tennis doesn’t just happen. So this month we are doing our Community Spotlight on Coaches! Christine Watson has been involved with Western Wake Tennis Association in some capacity since January, 2022. Most recently, in early fall 2025, Christine started doing many Try Tennis programs, then added Triples and now Level Up programs. She is fun and engaging on the court and provides helpful instruction to new and “not new any more” players. She has made USTA Coaching programs her go to for drills and programs. One of our favorites is she is captaining multiple 2.5 teams to get them out to play. As she works more and more with the Apex community she has developed (thanks to our amazing partnership with the Town of Apex), she has added more programs to get people out to play.

And now we are pleased to announce that she will also be WWTA’s Connections Coordinator doing our Find a Team and other programs in addition to the on court coaching to engage players new to the game in the healthiest sport on the planet. This is a perfect fit for Christine with all of her energy and enthusiasm for the sport and for the WWTA community to get people out to play. Thank you, Christine! You make tennis happen!
